Stargazing is possible throughout the year, but the best conditions are usually found on clear, moonless nights when the sky is at its darkest. The months between May and September often provide excellent visibility, although winter nights can also be incredibly clear after cold weather fronts have passed.
To enjoy the very best experience, allow your eyes around twenty minutes to adjust to the darkness and avoid using bright white lights. Dressing warmly is also recommended, as temperatures at higher altitudes can become surprisingly cool after sunset, even during the summer months.
Checking the moon phase before your visit can make a significant difference, with new moon nights providing the darkest skies and the greatest opportunity to see faint celestial objects.
